Семінар провела спікер видавництва Natalie Hammerton
MM Publications in Ukraine and company Linguist kindly invited English teachers to take part in a methodological seminar which took place in Ivano-Frankivsk, 29 March 2017. The seminar was conducted by Natalie Hammerton, MM Publications speaker.
Natalie Hammerton has studied English and Literature. She has been a teacher and an ELT consultant for several years and she is now working as an ELT consultant for MM Publications. Ms.Hammerton is currently involved in teacher training and travels widely in this capacity.
First of all, an enthusiastic and energetic Viktoriia Plishkova, MM Publications ELT consultant in Ukraine, took us on a fascinating journey to MM Publications in Ukraine: "Learning is a fascinating journey: MM Publications in Ukraine".
Then, Natalie Hammerton took the floor talking about modern compenence: "How to build the 21st century competence". In this session the participants explored how a coursebook can help students develop a range of skills that will enable them to cope with the challenges of the 21st century and to achieve success in this Age of Information.
After a coffee break, she went on with differentiated approach in teaching English: "One size does not fit at all. Traditional VS differentiated instruction". Every teacher knows that in the ELT classroom each student has a unique combination of strengths and skills. Following a one-size-fits-all approach will leave many students behind, but at the same time teachers often struggle to balance learners' different needs. In this session, we explored different preferences and learning styles a student may have and how we can accomodate all of them in the ELT classroom through differentiated instruction. We focused on the right blend of activities and their integration into the lesson to help students enhance their skills and build their confidence.
Besides, every participant got a great present from MM Publications -- a copy of a Teacher's Book "Full Blast! 4" and a certificate of attendance.
